THE LIFT
Below is a culmination of 19 weeks of training on how to do a one armed overhead. This lift is "NOT A SNATCH". Olympic lifters drop under the weight.  A presser presses or pulls the weight straight overhead with no drop. I was preparing for a demonstration. A few weeks before the demonstration, the marketing company called me and said that they were cancelling the demonstration because the CEO had to play in a "softball" tournamnent.
I was very upset to say the least. The positive side is that I learned grip strength can be developed just like any other strength. You must go heavy every time you lift. I did a variety of one armed grip training to get to this point. At first, I could hardly high pull 135 pounds with one arm, but many days of pain and work enabled me to work to 225 pounds. This lift damaged my right elbow for the rest of my life.
If you have never trained for 19 weeks with one armed, grip strength focus, you have NO IDEA what it takes to maximize grip strength and achieve optimal levels.
I trained (3) days a week just on grip. I trained in sub zero weather and in warm weather without chalk.
The bar I was using was bent as well.
THE PULL
"I talk about the "last 1%" and "Creating Separation" with my athletes.

Try a 50 meter sled pull in 50 Degree Water, 20 MPH Winds, Crashing Waves, Undertoe, Red Flags, Salt Water in the Mouth, Lungs, and Eyes, 6 feet of Ocean Water, 120 pounds of Iron, and the month of December to top it off. This was my 12th pull this day. My advice to kids, parents, and the rest of America is to quit crying and "Find The Heart" in 2009 !!!!
"I laugh at these Under Armour, Nike, and these suedo hard sled pulls I see on television. This was my 12th take on this pull. I had to haul the sled and the weight out 50 to 100 meters every take. The water was freezing and the undertoe terrible.  Now, that is hard work....creating separation...conquering the last 1%...and training heart".
"I would have been proud to have drowned kicking my own butt".
