Josh Bryant Happy Father's Day Dad!
By the mid 1960's my father, Martin Poe, held several Tennessee AAU weighlifting records (Olympic and Power) and was named Mr.Tennessee 2 years in a row as well a Mr.Nashville weighing 198 pounds. He represented Cosmopolitan Health Studio.
![]() (From right to left - Paul Anderson and Martin Poe) My father regularly worked out with one of the Strongest Men ever to Walk the Earth, Paul Anderson.
My dad was known for taking 425 pounds of the rack, without a warm-up and executing 15 reps RAW. He was Mr.Nashville in the Benchpress in 1964. His spotter, Charles Estes, in this picture was 1964 AAU Mr.Tennessee in bodybuilding and held numerous national titles as a bodybuilder. My dad held a long standing record benching 565 at 218 pounds - RAW - NO SUIT - PAUSE REP.
Matt Poe (left), Patrick Sporer (middle and owner of Health Life Gym), and Ken Hamel (regularly works out with 1,000 pounds on the legpress) stand together in a "real" training facility in Panama City, Florida. These guys are real "Raw Dogs". "Bricks and mortar do not make a world class training facility. Mentors and coaches like Patrick Sporer and Ken Hamel instill the Rocky "man"tality with old school equipment to build modern day warriors"---Coach Poe ____________________________________________________
Only because of an injury, does "General Fitness" Kenny Henderson, execute a box squat from the "Mount Everest" plyo box.
